Behind the invitation design

When offered the opportunity to create a custom invitation suite for a Disney inspired fairytale wedding, I knew I had to design something over the top! I gathered inspiration from Moroccan tiles, rewatched the movie a few times, and started sketching. I found the most beautiful handmade paper in blush and grey shades and hand-printed each suite on my vintage letterpress. The suite wasn’t complete without an illustrated wax seal of the scarab that opens the cave of wonders.

For place cards, I chose a Moroccan arabesque tile and hand-lettered guests’ names to serve as place cards, along with a blush menu for each place setting. For a little something extra, two banners were hand-painted with quotes from the film “let your heart decide” and ” I want it to be for love.” Growing up knowing every lyric to every song from the film, working on this romantic editorial piece was a dream come true.

Brooklyn Brunch Wedding

Brooklyn Brunch Wedding Invitations

Liberty Warehouse • Brooklyn, NYC

Behind the invitation design:

Becca and Greg wanted a custom wedding invitation that blended tradition with a bit of romantic whimsy for their Brooklyn brunch wedding at the Liberty Warehouse. Inspiration was taken from their wedding day florals and their venue’s breathtaking view to create one-of-a-kind illustrations for their wedding suite.

The invitation features a custom illustrated Aneneome that was blind letterpress printed onto luxury cotton paper. For the details card, I drew the NYC skyline as seen from their ceremony location, while their reply card was hand-illustrated with dainty florals that would be in the florals on the wedding day. The greenery on the envelope was inspired by the willow and Myrtle branches that are part of the four species mentioned in the Torah.

A custom newspaper was designed and printed for the couple that features a crossword puzzle, trivia, personal photos, love story, and a fantastic brunch menu. Each newspaper was placed on every guest’s table. The mix of modern New York iconography and traditional Jewish elements were the perfect match — just like coffee and a bagel!

Mid-Century Modern Wedding

Mid-Century Modern Wedding Invitations
Garden Cocktail Party

Custom invitation design details:

Inspired by Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and Ray and Charles Eames, I was beyond excited to design this Mid-Century Invitation. Bright, bold colors were an absolute must, so I chose two complementary colors for the outer envelope and reply card envelope, which were then letterpress printed with the return address. Vintage-inspired starburst and sputnik motifs were illustrated and paired with vintage typography for the main Invitation. To up the wow-factor, dark wood was chosen for the invite, and the design was deeply etched to create a fabulous retro vibe.

Of course, no cocktail party is complete without fabulous drinks, so custom drink stirrers were illustrated and crafted out of gold mirror. I designed the bar menu with vintage-inspired renditions of the signature cocktails and printed recipes onto custom made coasters for guests to take home with them after the party. I am all about that vintage vibe, and this party was one for the ages.

Hand Dyed Letterpress Suite

Wildflower Dip-Dye Letterpress Suite

Paris, Maine

A little bit about the invitations:

Inspired by the wildflowers of Maine, this suite was made by hand every step of the way. With handmade cotton paper made from recycled mill fibers, then dip dyed with a custom mixed color to match the bouquet. Each suite was printed on an antique letterpress one at a time, in a custom mixed color to pair perfectly with the ombre paper.

I love to give guests a little keepsake card in each invitation suite, one that they can keep on their desk or in a small frame, reminding them of the excitement that awaits as the wedding day draws near. Love grows like wildflowers, was the perfect sentiment to grace this nature inspired letterpress printed invitation suite.

Nordic Hygge Winter Wedding Invitations

Freeport, Maine

A little bit about the invitations:

I had the absolute joy of creating the custom wedding invitations for Stephanie and Raymond’s Central Park Zoo Wedding. They wanted a design that captured the spirit of the city, and the pure adorableness of the sea lions without feeling like a child’s birthday party. I illustrated a custom wedding monogram for them, featuring a few skyscrapers and the perfect pair of sea lions, which we also used on their dance floor and welcome sign. The custom invitation suite was letterpress printed for a super luxe look to match their wedding day. The wedding suite was tied with a silk ribbon that was sealed with a custom wax seal to match their invitation ink color.

To match the escort cards, each table number featured an original animal illustration along with the table number. Every wedding day detail, from the cocktail napkins to the bar signage, took inspiration for their custom invitation and monogram. I was glued to instagram the day of their wedding to catch a glimpse of the couple and of course the sea lions!
